Irish folk and trad music has been aound since time immemorial, but it has not been heard by modern-ears since the Great Folk Music Boom of the '50s and '60s. This was initially started by The Clancy Brothers who had emigrated to New York from Ireland, but they only really caught on in America, and weren't very popular in Ireland. What Ireland needed was a band of boisterous singers, with strong views and great personalities; and mot importantly...great voices. Well The Dubliners was just that. It was unique. Compromised with 5 bearded, scruffy yet smart singers with great voices, it was bound to live on. Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 2012, but the legacy has continued on; as some of the members have kept on touring and recording as "The Dublin Legends."
